Job Summary and Qualifications

This full-time role involves assisting microbiologists with culture setup, rapid testing, blood culture processing, and quality control. It requires phlebotomy skills for blood collection from diverse patient groups and familiarity with laboratory information systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing specimens and performing rapid tests (RSV, STREP A, Flu, C. diff, etc.)
• Reviewing and processing blood cultures
• Managing specimen transport and documentation
• Performing venipuncture and capillary puncture as needed
• Managing laboratory equipment and supplies
• Documenting and communicating critical results
• Supporting new staff and using computer systems effectively
• Labeling samples accurately with patient identifiers

Qualifications required:

• High School diploma preferred
• At least one month experience in blood specimen collection
