Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is a community-based healthcare system serving a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. This full-time morning-shift phlebotomy position supports the laboratory with specimen processing, reporting results, and patient care.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and adherence to TMH safety and credential checks. Prior phlebotomy experience is preferred, but not required, and candidates must meet DMV driving record

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• No training or experience required; one year of job-related experience preferred (including phlebotomy).
• Incumbent operates a TMH vehicle and requires a valid state driver license; must be 21+ with 2 years licensed driving experience; provide a 7-year DMV record with limited violations.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy on all age/acuity levels using established procedures and safety devices.
• Ensure accurate specimen identification and integrity; timely aliquoting/separation; report patient results to the client by charting or electronic means.
• Daily billing operations, send/receive specimens with reference labs, answer phones, reception and clerical duties; routine centrifuge maintenance and inventory.

Rrequired Education:

High School graduate or equivalent

Required Experience:

No training or experience required. One (1) year of job-related experience (including phlebotomy) preferred

Required Certification/License/Registry:

Incumbent operates a TMH vehicle and requires a valid state driver license. Required to be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and with a minimum of two (2) years of licensed driving experience. Required to provide a seven (7)- year driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) prior to employment. Will have received no more than two (2) minor violations in the past three (3) years and zero (0) major violations in the past five (5) years

Responsibilities

Performs phlebotomy on all age and acuity levels using established procedures and safety devices; ensure accurate specimen identification and integrity; responsible for assuring that all aliquoting and separation is done with precision and accuracy on a timely basis; must have an understanding of specimen requirements and be able to determine appropriateness of specimens received; responsible for reporting of patient results to the appropriate client by charting, telephone, fax, modem or computer; responsible for assuring accurate input of patient demographics and insurance information.

Behavioral Criteria: Responsible for daily billing operations, responsible for sending specimens to and receiving results from reference laboratories, professionally answers phones, provides reception and general clerical duties for the laboratory; performs routine centrifuge maintenance and inventory of supplies, provides assistance and information to outreach locations; assists Section Head and other Laboratory staff as needed.

Reports:

Med Lab Section Head, Phlebotomist/Lead, and Senior Med Tech.
