Job summary

UT Health Pittsburg in Pittsburg, TX seeks an Evening shift, PRN Phlebotomist to support our laboratory team. You will perform specimen collection including venipuncture, capillary draws, and proper labeling to ensure accurate test results.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, completion of an accredited phlebotomy program with clinicals, and certification from a recognized agency. Prior clinical experience is preferred with strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals.
• Nationally recognized phlebotomy certification(s) accepted.
• Experience in a clinical setting and strong customer service.
• Experience with venipuncture and specimen handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection per instructions.
• Label and handle specimens accurately and promptly.
• Maintain specimen integrity and communicate with lab staff.

Responsibilities

The Phlebotomist functions as a laboratory professional who performs specimen collection techniques or specimen collection instructions that include; venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience.
• Certification from nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
• National Heathcareer Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA).
• American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP).
• American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT).
• National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT).
• American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA).
• Hospital Lab information system skills and strong customer service skills.
• Experience working in the clinical setting.

Preferred Job Requirements.

• 5+ years’ experience as a Phlebotomist.
