Job summary

Community Health Northwest Florida is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team. The Phlebotomist collects blood, urine, stool, and other specimens as ordered by medical providers, ensuring proper patient identification and specimen handling.

The ideal candidate will have completed a certified Phlebotomy program, healthcare experience, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a certified Phlebotomy Training Program or equivalent (such as Medical Assistant).
  • Experience working as a phlebotomist in a healthcare environment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare workers.

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood and other laboratory specimens as ordered by medical providers.
  • Verify patient identity and accurately label specimens.
  • Process and document laboratory orders using the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Ensure proper specimen handling and timely delivery for laboratory testing.
  • Follow OSHA, infection prevention, and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Perform quality control procedures and maintain laboratory logs, including temperature monitoring.
  • Dispose of biomedical waste according to established procedures.
  • Maintain required certifications and complete annual laboratory competencies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while interacting with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Assist with additional laboratory duties and other responsibilities as assigned to support clinic operations.

Community Health Northwest Florida is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team. The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood, urine, stool, and other laboratory specimens as ordered by medical providers while ensuring proper patient identification, specimen handling, and compliance with laboratory standards. This position plays a vital role in delivering quality patient care by maintaining accurate laboratory processes and supporting efficient clinic operations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of a certified Phlebotomy Training Program or equivalent (such as Medical Assistant).
  • Experience working as a phlebotomist in a healthcare environment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare workers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or American Association of Medical Personnel (AAMP).
  • Two years of phlebotomy or laboratory technician experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or healthcare clinic.
  • Additional healthcare certifications or volunteer experience are a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Strong customer service and patient-centered care skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work with exposure to bloodborne pathogens while following appropriate safety protocols.
  • Flexibility to travel between clinic locations when needed.
