Job summary

Baptist Health Corbin is seeking a Phlebotomist for a full-time third-shift position in the Laboratory. You will collect blood samples from patients of all ages, identify specimens, and prepare them for transport, ensuring safety and accuracy in every step.

You will document in the LIS, support quality initiatives, assist with inventory and training, and deliver compassionate service to patients, physicians, and staff while upholding confidentiality and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • New employees requiring CPR should have basic life support (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages using proper collection techniques, safety practices, and infection control procedures.
  • Accurately identifies patients and labels specimens according to established protocols.
  • Processes, documents, and tracks specimens within the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Ensures timely specimen collection, handling, and delivery to support efficient laboratory operations.
  • Communicates professionally and compassionately with patients, physicians, and coworkers while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Supports quality assurance initiatives and follows all hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.

Phlebotomist Full Time – Third Shift BHCOR-Laboratory I Corbin, KY The Clinical Laboratory Services Department provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic testing services that support patient care throughout Baptist Health Corbin. The laboratory is committed to delivering timely, accurate, and reliable test results to assist providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of disease. Through advanced technology, skilled laboratory professionals, and a focus on quality, the department supports the organization's mission, vision, and strategic priorities. The phlebotomist is responsible for specimen collections, accessioning, labeling and transport of specimens; while optimizing patient safety with minimal medical/health care errors in any or all the sections of the Clinical Laboratory.

Description

Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages using proper collection techniques, safety practices, and infection control procedures. Accurately identifies patients and labels specimens according to established protocols. Processes, documents, and tracks of specimens within the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Ensures timely specimen collection, handling, and delivery to support efficient laboratory operations. Communicates professionally and compassionately with patients, physicians, and coworkers while maintaining patient confidentiality. Supports quality assurance initiatives and follows all hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines. Assists with inventory monitoring, supply management, and training of new employees and students. Provides excellent customer service and responds promptly to patient and departmental needs.
