Job summary

Baptist Health in Paducah, KY is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the ER on the second shift (11am-11pm), 24 hours weekly. Under RN supervision, you provide general nursing care, ensure patient safety, and support unit operations.

Responsibilities include hygiene, vital signs, EMR documentation, phlebotomy, ECGs, and patient transport; the role may involve stocking and equipment placement. Qualifications include a HS diploma, BLS within 3 months, and preferred experience/training in

• Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
• Previous phlebotomy/point of care testing is preferred.
• One year of healthcare patient care experience is preferred.

• Document patient care in EMR according to scope of practice.
• Perform phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections.
• Apply monitoring equipment and conduct 12-lead ECGs.
• Coordinate patient transport as needed.

Patient Care Tech - ER Full Time, Second Shift, 24 hours weekly 11am-11pm Provides general nursing care assistance to patients, with consideration for the unique needs of pediatric and geriatric populations as appropriate. Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment. Patient Care Technicians perform duties under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and in addition performs general stocking duties as needed to support unit operations.

Job Duties

• Patient hygiene, routine vital signs, routine care.
• Documentation of patient care in EMR based on scope of practice.
• Phlebotomy and various other lab collections.
• Placement of appropriate monitoring equipment.
• Performs 12 Lead ECG.
• Coordinates transport of patients as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Must obtain Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire

Preferred Requirements

• Successful completion of an Approved Aide Training Program is preferred
• Previous phlebotomy/point of care testing is preferred
• One year of previous experience in a healthcare setting providing patient care preferred
