Pheresis Donor Health Specialist

Job summary

CSL is seeking a qualified professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical history, and determine donation eligibility while escalating critical cases to the Center Physician as needed.

In partnership with the Center Medical Director, you will respond to medical questions, review test results, and counsel donors on reactive tests.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign medical school, must be licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT.
• For NY: active license/certification as RN, MD or DO in the applying state or reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year of relevant health care experience.
• Experience in plasma or blood collection center preferred.
• Ability to perform physical assessments including heart and lung sounds and drug-use signs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, administering meds or treatments per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director to answer questions about donor suitability.
• Review test results and decide continued donor suitability; assess symptoms affecting donation.
• Counsel donors on reactive test results and refer to facilities for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to physicians or local providers.
