Job summary

CSL is seeking a qualified healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide basic emergency medical care to donors and staff. The role includes interviewing donors, reviewing medical history, and determining suitability for donation in consultation with the Center Medical Director.

Qualified applicants will have paramedic, nursing, PA training or equivalent, with at least one year in a healthcare setting and experience in plasma/blood collection

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
  • If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
  • Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment
  • Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
  • Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification
  • Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to obtain information to determine donor suitability
  • Report to Center Medical Director on donor suitability and medically related questions
  • Review test results to determine continued donor suitability and assess donor symptoms
  • Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer for follow-up
  • Provide routine care following SOPs and escalate critical medical situations as needed
