Job summary

AMD is seeking an intern/co‑op in silicon design and architecture modeling, focusing on SerDes optical transmit/receive technology. The program is available to PhD students in related fields and offers full‑time engagement in hybrid or onsite settings across the internship/co‑op term.

Qualifications

• PhD coursework or research completed in a relevant technical field.
• Experience with device physics, circuit/RTL/logic design, design automation, RF/ DAC/ADC/SerDes design, DSP or clocking circuits.
• Familiarity with power‑efficient, high‑performance circuit design methodologies.
• Experience using simulation, modeling or design tools to analyze designs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Participate in silicon design and architecture modeling projects related to SerDes optical transceivers.
• Collaborate with mentor engineers to understand problems, set objectives, and propose solutions.
• Learn to use CAD, AI, software development and modeling tools supporting project work.
• Research, evaluate and propose innovative engineering solutions using analytical approaches.
• Document findings and deliver a final presentation to the engineering team.
