Job summary

Pinterest is seeking data science interns to help shape product direction through quantitative analysis, modeling, and data mining. You will work cross-functionally with engineers and product teams to inform decisions and measure impact.

Internships are 12 weeks, with fixed May/June start dates, and can be remote or hybrid in San Francisco, Palo Alto, New York or Seattle. Bring your statistics, ML, and analytical skills to influence our experimentation platform and product roadmap.

Qualifications

• PhD candidate in statistics, mathematics, economics, applied sciences or computer science.
• Fluency in SQL and a scripting language (Python or R).
• Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches including ML, statistical modeling or econometrics.
• Excellent communication skills to explain learnings to technical and non-technical partners.
• Strong critical thinking when working with AI-generated suggestions with validation for correctness and security.
• Ability to connect data analysis to real business problems to impact performance.

Responsibilities

• Influence and evolve our product roadmap using data and exploratory analysis to understand user behavior and opportunities for product innovation.
• Design and implement core metrics and evaluate A/B experiments that drive these metrics.
• Explore alternative experimentation techniques to accelerate idea validation.
• Help gather signals about user and advertiser preferences using survey methodologies and modeling approaches.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to build next experiences on Pinterest.
