Job summary

Pinterest is seeking Data Science interns to influence product direction through quantitative analysis and modeling. You will work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to extract insights that shape features and experimentation strategies.

Internships are 12 weeks, paid, with fixed start dates in May or June, and can be remote or hybrid across San Francisco, Palo Alto, New York, or Seattle offices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a PhD in statistics, mathematics, economics, applied sciences, computer science or related field.
• Fluency in SQL and a scripting language (Python or R).
• Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches including ML, statistical modeling, forecasting or econometrics.
• Excellent communication to explain learnings to technical and non-technical partners.
• Strong critical thinking when working with AI-generated suggestions and validating results.

Responsibilities

• Influence and evolve product roadmap using data and exploratory analysis to understand user behavior and identify opportunities.
• Design and implement core metrics and evaluate A/B experiments.
• Explore alternative experimentation techniques to help teams test ideas faster.
• Gather explicit signals about user/merchant/creator/advertiser preferences using survey methodologies and modeling.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers and researchers to build new experiences.
