Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Registry on the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as one of: Registered Pharmacy Technician (prior to hire), Certified Pharmacy Technician (prior to hire), or Trainee (upon hire).
• Sound interpersonal, decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Good listening, verbal and written communication skills.
• Needs ability to determine dosages using basic pharmaceutical calculations.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Selects appropriate drug, verifies NDC, and assists with inventory orders.
• Counts medications accurately and prepares orders for pharmacist final checks.
• Packages, labels, restocks, and ensures proper storage of drugs.
• Uses pharmacy computer system to maintain patient profiles and billing data.
• Refers questions to the pharmacist in charge for professional judgment.
• Completes monthly pharmacy technician continuing education.
