Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) Outpatient Pharmacy Operations

The HCC Outpatient Pharmacy is an open‑door pharmacy on the first floor of the Hollings Cancer Center at 86 Jonathan Lucas Street. It operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and supports patients and care teams within the cancer center. Pharmacy technicians perform data entry, prescription claims processing, medication fulfillment, mailing, and point‑of‑sale activities. They also manage inventory by ordering, receiving, and maintaining accurate stock levels, and handle shipping exceptions to keep patients informed of any delays.

MUSC Mail Order Pharmacy Operations

The MUSC Mail Order Pharmacy is a closed‑door facility in North Charleston, open Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It features advanced dispensing automation and conveyor belt systems. Technicians support medication fulfillment, packing and shipping, inventory receiving, and ongoing maintenance of pharmacy technology to ensure optimal system performance. They also manage shipping exceptions, notifying patients promptly to minimize clinical impact.

Required Qualifications

• Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP).
• Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
• Team members as of 11/1/2023 must have certification within one year of 11/1/2023.
• New team members as of 11/1/2023 must have certification within six months of hire.
• New team members enrolled in an ASHP‑accredited pharmacy technician training program have 30 days after program completion to obtain certification.
