Position Summary

Sovah Danville is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician-Prn to provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance, and support for the registered pharmacist by performing technical aspects of the distribution and dispensing of medications.

• Assist the pharmacist in providing medication, drug information, and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
• Receive and store incoming deliveries of medication and supplies.
• Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.
• Fill medication carts daily; repackage bulk medications.
• Prepare orders, such as intravenous solutions and admixtures.
• Maintain inventory for the pharmacy department, including supplies, and reorders accordingly.
• Refill and maintain all pharmacy automation.
• Monitor and document refrigerator, freezer, and room temperatures as required.
• Restock, update, and replace drug boxes, trays, and crash carts on time.
• Compound, pack, and label medications.
• Process records of dispensed medications and supplies, compute charges, and enter into the computer.
• Recognize inappropriate dosing to reduce healthcare errors.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the pharmacist.

Minimum Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Required Skills

• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holidays, to ensure pharmacy coverage.

Required Certifications/Licenses

• Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy or a licensed Pharmacy Intern recognized by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
