Responsibilities

1. In accordance with state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assist in other Pharmacy Department duties per company policies.
2. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in system operation.
3. Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Customer Experience

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance. Resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Share customer service best practices with team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.

Operations

• Assist in pharmacy practice under supervision, ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations.
• Perform duties such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, and checking for interactions. Support workflow scheduling.
• Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to error and quality policies.
• Follow policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing during prescription activities.
• Register sales, handle cash, and assist customers in locating products.
• Handle non-urgent phone calls, including those to physicians.
• Process third-party prescription claims and perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Support inventory management activities, including ordering and receiving pharmaceuticals, and file claims for overages, shortages, or damages.
• Assist in clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
• Build and maintain relationships with the medical community through outreach and detailing.
• Ensure the pharmacy environment is stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Follow all company policies, maintain respectful relationships, and complete assigned tasks.

Training & Personal Development

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the training program and/or state registration. Certification is a condition for promotion to senior technician.
• Attend training and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
