Job summary

Penn Medicine University City at 3737 Market St is seeking a Fulltime Pharmacy Technician to support the Retail Services team under the supervision of registered pharmacists. Responsibilities include filling outpatient prescriptions, handling inventory, preparing medications for shipment or pickup, and assisting patients in person and by phone.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least six months of pharmacy experience in retail or payer settings, and strong accuracy,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Six months of prior pharmacy experience in a retail/outpatient setting.
• Infusion sterile compounding experience preferred for ambulatory infusion.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medications for dispensing under the supervision of the pharmacist, demonstrating accuracy, precision, and consistency relating to selection, packaging, and labeling functions.
• Retrieves and interpret prescriptions
• perform pharmaceutical calculations, considering patient and drug characteristics
• enter prescriptions, patient health information and insurance information into the clinical pharmacy information system for pharmacist review.
• Communicates with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.
• Runs cash register accurately and dispenses prescriptions to patients
• Triages phone calls and requests from customers for assistance.
• Delivers medications to assigned areas
• Assists in maintaining proper inventory and control of drugs and supplies purchased by the Pharmacy. Regularly rotate medication inventory and check for expired medications.
