Job summary

Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, part of Penn Medicine, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Retail Pharmacy team in Philadelphia. Qualifications

• CPhT certification is required at the time of hire.
• Active Pharmacy Technician License in PA and/or NJ is required.
• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Six months of prior Pharmacy experience in retail/outpatient or payer environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medications for dispensing under the supervision of the pharmacist, ensuring accuracy in selection, packaging and labeling.
• Retrieves and interprets prescriptions.
• Performs pharmaceutical calculations considering patient and drug characteristics.
• Enters prescriptions and patient information into the pharmacy information system for pharmacist review.
• Communicates with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.
• Runs cash register and dispenses prescriptions to patients.
• Triages phone calls and requests from customers for assistance.
• Delivers medications to assigned areas.
• Maintains proper inventory and control of drugs and supplies; rotates stock and checks for expired medications.
