Job summary

Bayview Physicians Group in Virginia Beach area seeks a dedicated full-time staff member to support pharmacy and administrative duties. You will provide excellent customer service, process prior authorizations and refills in the EMR, assist patients with programs, and maintain medication samples on site.

The role requires a high school diploma, knowledge of pharmaceutical principles and insurance payors, and the ability to work as part of a team. Travel to satellite offices may be necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical principles and practices, including medical terminology and of insurance payors.
• Ability to get along with the public and make patients feel welcome and comfortable.
• Willing to travel to satellite offices if necessary.
• Must maintain appropriate Pharmaceutical license.
• Ability to work as a team with coworkers and providers.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service.
• Performs general administrative duties as requested by physicians and office managers.
• Processes prior authorizations and refill requests in the Electronic Medical Record system.
• Assists in connecting patients with various patient assistance programs offered.
• Maintains medication samples onsite and tracks dispensing.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with various pharmaceutical representatives.
• Takes incoming calls from pharmacies to provide refill authorizations, answer questions about medication interactions and clarify prescriptions.
• Takes incoming phone calls from patients and assists them with medication concerns or takes messages for the physician.
