Job summary

Shenandoah Medical Center in Iowa City is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in dispensing medications, preparing unit-dose meds with Pyxis labels, and labeling per regulatory guidelines. You will handle IV meds using sterile technique and assist with IV preparation and verification processes.

Responsibilities

• Review and prepare medications for pharmacist approval, ensuring correct dosage, form, strength and quantity for dispensing via Pyxis or for compounding.
• Maintain appropriate medication stock levels; place orders with wholesalers and monitor inventory for accuracy and up-to-date formulary.
• Triage customer inquiries with excellent service; determine when to transfer or refer and relay information to patients or providers.
• Document all unit dose and compounded preparations; store and file records per USP guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Provide administrative support to the Pharmacy department; screen visitors, schedule drug representative and anticoagulation clinic appointments, and maintain equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned; comply with Know Your Rights notices and maintain confidentiality and safety standards.
