Pima Medical Institute in Houston, TX seeks a Pharmacy Technician Instructor for a part-time role (18 hours/week) on-site at the Houston campus. You will lead evening lectures, run hands-on lab demonstrations, and provide morning lab support on Tue/Thu to maintain optimal student-to-instructor ratios.

The ideal candidate holds a Pharmacy Technician credential and has multiple years of experience; teaching or training experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program recognized by USDE or CHEA and three (3) years of practical experience.
• OR a minimum of four (4) years of job-related training and experience for non-accredited program graduates.
• Current, active license, registration, or certification as required by local, state, or federal laws to work as a Pharmacy Technician in Texas.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and basic computer software.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Delivery & Lab Support: Course Execution: Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans for evening lectures.

• Evening Instruction: Tuesday & Thursday | 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Position Summary

Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician looking to share your passion and shape the next generation of healthcare professionals? Pima Medical Institute is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Instructor to join our Houston campus faculty in a flexible 18-hour per week part-time role.

In this position, you will lead evening classroom lectures, facilitate hands‑on laboratory demonstrations, and provide critical morning lab support on Tuesdays and Thursdays to ensure optimal student-to-instructor ratios during practical skill check-offs.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery & Lab Support:

• Course Execution: Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans for evening lectures (5:30 PM – 10:00 PM) aligning with established course syllabi and program objectives.

• Morning Lab Support: Support morning lab sessions (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM) on Tuesdays and Thursdays to maintain required student-to-instructor ratios, assist with skill demonstrations, and ensure safe lab practices.

• Student Retention: Monitor student progress and engagement; implement proactive strategies to maintain an 80% student success rate across assigned classes.

Academic Administration & Support:

• Attendance Tracking: Monitor daily attendance, alert leadership (Associate Director) when consecutive absences occur, and prepare weekly attendance logs.

• Grading & Advising: Evaluate student performance, grade assignments within established policy timelines, and submit final sequence grades. Schedule regular check-ins to advise and encourage students.

• Enrichment & Operations: Arrange guest speakers, community field trips, and pharmacy site visits. Assist with lab supply inventory, ordering, and potential student externship coordination as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Education & Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program recognized by USDE or CHEA AND three (3) years of practical experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

  • A minimum of four (4) years of job-related training and experience for non-accredited program graduates.

Compensation & Part-Time Benefits

• Hiring Range: $21.57 to $26.96 per hour.
