Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in preparing and dispensing medications for inpatient and outpatient services.

You will support daily workflows, replenish Pyxis machines, monitor refrigerators, and ensure proper documentation and billing in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role requires PA-registered tech status on hire, high school diploma, and adherence to NJ certification within the specified timelines where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• RPT - Registered Pharmacy Technician in PA required upon hire.
• NJ techs must register within 180 days and obtain PTCB certification within 12 months (enrollment exemption may apply).

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson values.
• Prepares drug orders from physicians for review and dispensing by a pharmacist.
• Replenishes Pyxis machines and monitors refrigerator temperatures with documented actions.
• Counts, compounds and repackages pharmaceuticals using established procedures.
• Distributes medications to patient areas and restocks inventory in departments and nursing units.
• Performs billing/crediting functions to ensure proper medication billing and document waste.
• Picks up physician orders from team centers as required.
• Uses aseptic techniques to prepare IVs and transports them to nursing areas.
• Maintains competencies related to IV lab, Pyxis, McKesson Automation and CAPS.
• Reviews inspections and maintains required department and hospital competencies.
