Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in preparation and dispensing of medications for inpatient and outpatient services.

The role supports daily workflow by ensuring medications and tools are available for clinicians and patients, while maintaining compliance and accuracy. Responsibilities include preparing drug orders, replenishing Pyxis machines, IV handling with aseptic technique, and assisting with inventory and billing processes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• RPT - Registered Pharmacy Technician- PA upon hire.
• New Jersey pharmacy technicians must obtain and maintain current registration within 180 days of hire.
• Pharmacy technicians must be certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months of hire or provide evidence of completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson values.
• Prepares drug orders from physicians for review and dispensing by a pharmacist.
• Replenishes Pyxis machines and monitors refrigerator temperatures; documents corrective actions.
• Counts, compounds and repackages pharmaceuticals following established procedures.
• Dispenses medications, restocks inventory, and ensures proper documentation and waste handling.
• Picks up physician orders from team centers and assists pharmacists; maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas.
