Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. in Philadelphia seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist in preparing and filling medications for inpatient and outpatient services.

You will support daily workflow by ensuring medications and tools are available for the clinical team and patients. The role involves replenishing Pyxis machines, restocking inventory, performing IV preparation with aseptic techniques, and assisting with billing and documentation across departments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• RPT - Registered Pharmacy Technician in PA required upon hire.
• NJ technicians must obtain NJ registration within 180 days of hire.
• PTCB certification within 12 months of hire or evidence of formal training.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff per Jefferson values.
• Prepares drug orders from Physicians for review and dispensing by a pharmacist.
• Replenishes Pyxis machines and monitors refrigerator temperatures with documentation of actions.
• Counts, compounds and repackages pharmaceuticals using established procedures.
• Dispenses medications to patient areas and restocks inventory across departments and nursing units.
• Performs billing/crediting to ensure proper medication billing and documents waste.
• Picks up physician orders from team centers and assists pharmacists as required.
• Maintains cleanliness and organizes work areas; performs light housekeeping tasks.
• Uses aseptic techniques to prepare IVs and transports them to the nursing floors.
• Maintains competencies related to IV lab, Pyxis, McKesson Automation and CAPS.
