The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient supports pharmacy operations at Akron General, providing essential medication distribution and operational services across multiple inpatient care areas. Working within the inpatient pharmacy on the hospital’s first floor, this role rotates through a variety of responsibilities including medication inventory management, medication delivery, triaging requests, inventory checks, restocking, and supporting daily pharmacy workflows. Caregivers collaborate closely with pharmacists and clinical teams to ensure medications are prepared, distributed, and available when needed to support patient care. A caregiver in this position will primarily work Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm and participate in an every-other-weekend rotation, with scheduled days off incorporated into the workweek. As operational needs arise, caregivers may also support second-shift coverage from 3:00pm to 11:30pm, including every-other-weekend responsibilities. • Compound non-sterile medications according to USP795 regulations.
  • Prepackage medication as necessary and according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Answer telephones and assist callers with needs that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist.
  • Interact with EPIC, our dispensing automation software (e.g. Pyxis, Carousels, etc.) and Pharmacy Keeper software to answer all questions related to the processing of a medication order.
  • Assist customers at the service window including caregivers, couriers and others as needed.
