Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA and OBOP registration required; if currently Trainee status, upgrade within six months of hire.
  • Pharmacy Technician Trainee status with OBOP is not eligible; visit apprenticeship program for interest.
  • Formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program is preferred.
  • Six months hospital experience is preferred.

Pharmacy technicians work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in preparing medications to dispense to patients. To do this, pharmacy technicians need to demonstrate proper pharmaceutical techniques and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients as well as the pharmacist. Pharmacy technicians need to learn medication names, actions, uses, and doses. They need to have a working knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, data entry and recordkeeping, and pharmacy law and ethics.

This is a PRN position. A caregiver in this role will be required to work every 4th weekend. In addition, a caregiver in this role may have the opportunity to pick up shifts throughout the week.

  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:

  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR the National HealthCareer Association (NHA)
  • AND it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee. If certified but current status with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) is Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee it is required to update registration status to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Six months of hospital experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform functions of the job while reaching and stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $23.00

Maximum hourly: $23.00
