Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is hiring a Pharmacy Technician on the Main Campus. You will support pharmacists in ambulatory settings, prepare prescription orders, maintain inventory, and assist with compounding.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program.
  • Must obtain CPhT through PTCB or NHA upon hire.
  • Must hold an active OBOP registration (Certified/Registered/Trainee) upon hire and upgrade to CPhT within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services and support for the pharmacist in ambulatory/outpatient settings.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous and bulk compounding of prescriptions and OTC items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system.
  • Monitor reorder points and restock prescription and non-prescription areas.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.

A caregiver in this position works a day/evening rotation from 6:45AM - 8:15PM, with weekend and holiday availability.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
  • Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
  • In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
  • Please note: Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Six months of hospital experience
Physical Requirements:
  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $21.50

Maximum hourly: $31.00

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
