Job summary

Avera St Mary's Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Training to join our team. Under pharmacist supervision, you will prepare labels, package medications, and support an efficient, accurate medication delivery system.

This entry-level role emphasizes completing the Education Program to qualify for PTCB certification and advancement. Completion of the program requires a two-year employment commitment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work the hours specified and communicate effectively with others.
• Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and ability to hear and distinguish speech and other sounds.

Responsibilities

• Under Pharmacist supervision, input and/or prepare labels and packages inpatient or outpatient medication orders and prescriptions.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications, calculations, regulation, PPE, and patient safety to ensure quality care.
• Communicates with nursing staff, physicians, customers, co-workers, supervisor and management; participates in interdepartmental groups to promote good communication and prevent harm.
• Performs clerical tasks such as billing and pharmacy inventory procedures to support efficient distribution.

Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Board Certification

High School or GED Equivalent
