Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc is hiring a Non-Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in prescription processing, insurance billing, and customer service. The role emphasizes accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and growth toward national certification.

You will assist with dispensing, labeling, inventory, and vaccines where allowed by law, in a fast-paced retail pharmacy setting. Training is provided to help you advance in your pharmacy career.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working toward licensed technician certification through a certified national program required.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers and making interactions positive.
• Handle inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
• Accept new written prescription orders and telephoned refills as directed by the supervising pharmacist.
• Contact doctors for refills as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare and affix labels to containers and prepare prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing and troubleshooting.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and adhere to pharmacy regulations.
