Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician III assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department.

Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician III will:

  • Perform clerical duties as required for the department.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Preferred: at least 2 years of experience and experience in sterile compounding.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP).
  • National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required and must be maintained.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to work indoors, from elevated areas, and in confined/cramped spaces.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, squat, and perform job functions.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders.
  • Ability to reach in all directions and possess good finger dexterity.
  • Ability to fully use both legs, both hands, and arms.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. unassisted; lift/lower 15 lbs. from/to floor within 36 inches; lift from 36 inches to overhead 15 lbs.
  • Maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one or both eyes.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance; match or discriminate between colors.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Operate in a latex‑safe environment.
  • Qualified physically for respirator use as required.
