Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to support the Feinberg 9th floor pharmacy. The role involves dispensing medications for inpatients and outpatients, with rotating AM/PM shifts and weekend commitments as described.

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, you will prepare orders, enter prescriptions, manage IV admixtures, and maintain inventory. A strong focus on accuracy and safety is required in this fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

High School Diploma required.
Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR) required.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB or ExCPT through NHA required for all those licensed after 2008. Newly licensed Technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their certification.

Responsibilities

Prepares medication orders for inpatients.
Prepares prescriptions for outpatients.
Picks up orders and delivers medications to nursing units.
Schedules intravenous admixture solutions according to the patient’s medical record. Reports any variance from the record to a pharmacist.
Enters new drug orders and renewal/refill information into the computerized patient medication profile.
Compounds dosage forms needed for dispensing to patients.
Maintains adequate inventory levels in the dispensing areas.
