Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to support both inpatient and outpatient medication operations. You will prepare medication orders, assist with sterile products, and enter orders into the computerized system under a pharmacist’s supervision.

The primary work location is the Feinberg 9th floor pharmacy in Chicago, with possible rotations to other Northwestern Medicine pharmacies. The role includes full-time hours (40/week) and rotating shifts (AM/PM) with weekend and

Qualifications

Illinois license required to practice as a pharmacy technician.
CPhT or ExCPT certification required for license after 2008.
High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

Prepares medication orders for inpatients.
Prepares prescriptions for outpatients.
Picks up orders and delivers medications to nursing units.
Schedules IV admixture according to patient record; report variances to pharmacist.
Enters new drug orders into the computerized patient medication profile.
Uses the system to assist in all dispensing and inquiry functions.
Maintains inventory and reconciles discrepancies with pharmacists.
Prepares and distributes floor stock requisitions and other clinical locations.
Assists in preparing sterile products for administration to patients.
Plans and performs daily tasks under the direction of a pharmacist.
