MaineHealth is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II at Maine Medical Center in Westbrook, ME, to join a fast-paced outpatient environment. This full-time, day-shift role offers a hybrid workspace after a 6-month introductory period, with duties in medication management and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • - Patient Care: Deliver exceptional care by providing a full suite of custom medication management services. Engage with patients over the phone and virtually, to support their medication needs.
  • - Clinic Integration: Collaborate effectively with clinic teams, including doctors, nurses, and other staff, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of care.
  • - Education & Support: Educate patients about our pharmacy services and how they enhance their overall care. Encourage utilization of specialty pharmacy services.
  • - Medication Management: Monitor medication adherence, perform outbound therapy/medication adherence check-ups, and manage refill prescriptions. Address and resolve insurance-related issues, including prior authorizations and financial assistance.
  • - Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate documentation, manage data using database applications, and participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • - Communication: Provide timely and effective communication with the clinical care team members and fulfillment staff and handle inbound inquiries professionally.
  • - Process Development: Contribute to the development of new processes to improve patient care and operational workflows, under the oversight of the Workflow Committee
  • - Confidentiality: Ensure patient information is kept confidential and protected.
Qualifications:
  • - Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • - Experience : healthcare (1 year minimum for Technician Level II), communications or customer service background preferred
  • - Licensure/Certification : Currently eligible or licensed as a pharmacy technician in the State of Maine consistent with the current Board of Pharmacy requirements. Payment for licensing may be reimbursed by the department.
  • - Skills : Strong interpersonal communication, organizational skills, attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) encouraged. Ability to quickly learn new software and extract relevant information.

The Pharmacy Technician II role functions in an independent capacity in their respective pharmacy practice area. The Pharmacy Technician II will assist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and the care team in the storage, handling, preparation, and distribution of medications within MaineHealth.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • License/Certifications: Current or eligible for applicable state(s) license as a Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) CPhT certification or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) ExCPT certification required.
  • Experience: One year of experience as a licensed pharmacy technician.
