Job summary

HCA HealthONE Aurora is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to support pharmaceutical preparation and distribution under a pharmacist's supervision. Responsibilities include non-sterile compounding, stocking automated cabinets, unit dose preparation, medication delivery, and ensuring proper storage and billing.

Opportunities to work in specialty areas such as IV room, controlled substances, automation, informatics, and medication reconciliation are available.

Qualifications

  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or national equivalent) with Colorado Board of Pharmacy issued Certificate, or Provisional Certificate.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: previous pharmacy technician experience preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: attention to detail; communication, teamwork, customer service, computer, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Degree of Supervision: Minimal; independent within policies and procedures.
  • Orientation Period: Four to six weeks.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Pharmacy Technician II:

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II performs functions related to pharmaceutical preparation and distribution. These tasks may include but are not limited to non-sterile compounding, stocking automated dispensing cabinets, unit dose drug preparation, delivering medications to patient care areas, checking medication storage areas for outdates, billing, and other duties as assigned.

Additionally, the Pharmacy Technician II may work in one or more specialty areas of pharmacy. Examples: IV room, controlled substance distribution and monitoring, automation, informatics, medication reconciliation.

Position Requirements
  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or national equivalent) with Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued Pharmacy Technician Certificate, or Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued Provisional Pharmacy Technician Certificate
  • If initially hired with a Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued Provisional Pharmacy Technician Certificate, must achieve Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or national equivalent) within 12 months of hire.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: previous pharmacy technician experience preferred
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: As defined in competencies; ability to work accurately with attention to detail. Possesses communication, teamwork, customer service, computer, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Degree of Supervision Required: Minimal. Individual proceeds on his/her own initiative, in compliance with applicable policies, law, regulations, practices and procedures prescribed by his/her immediate supervisor.
  • Orientation Period: Four to six weeks
