Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must hold current licensure as required by state boards (MD/OH/PA/WV).
  • PTCB or NHA certification, or two years of pharmacy-specific experience within 15 months of hire.
  • Associates degree or pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • Nationally certified pharmacy technician upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare unit-dose medications and deliver medications; manage drug supplies.
  • Read physician orders/prescriptions and prepare medications for dispensing, including pediatric and geriatric forms.
  • Communicate with patients or caregivers about medication and scheduling delivery.
  • Accurately prepares and delivers controlled substances with proper records.
  • Take inventory and manage stock in the pharmacy; replace depleted inventory.
  • Prepare non-intravenous medications, including oral solutions for pediatric patients.
  • Label parenteral and prescription products appropriately.
  • Perform dosage calculations for usual dosages and maintain speed and accuracy standards.
  • Prepare and label prepackaged medications and maintain related records.
  • Assist in training of pharmacy technicians.
