Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must hold current licensure per state board where services are provided.
• PTCB or NHA certification preferred OR must obtain within 15 months if pharmacy experience is 2+ years.
• Associates degree or post-high-school science education preferred.
• Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare unit-dose medications, deliver meds, and order supplies.
• Read prescriptions and prepare medications, including pediatric/geriatric forms.
• Understand standard pharmaceutical terms and abbreviations used in dispensing.
• Communicate with patients or caregivers about medication and delivery.
• Prepare and label controlled substances and maintain records.
• Manage inventory and replace outdated or depleted medications.
• Prepare non-intravenous meds (oral solutions/suspensions) for pediatric patients.
• Label parenteral/prescription products correctly.
• Perform dosage calculations and comply with speed/accuracy standards.
• Prepare and label prepackaged medications and maintain related records.
• Maintain inventory in assigned pharmacy areas.
• Answer phone calls and route to appropriate staff.
• Keep pharmacy areas and drug storage clean and orderly.
• Assist in training of pharmacy technicians.
