Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must hold licensure as required by the state board where services are provided.
• Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician through PTCB or NHA OR two years of pharmacy-specific experience within 15 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare unit-dose medications and deliver medications; order and deliver drug supplies.
• Read prescriptions and prepare meds for dispensing, including pediatric and geriatric dosing.
• Understand common pharmaceutical terms, abbreviations and symbols used in dispensing.
• Communicate with patients or care givers to confirm medications and delivery timing.
• Prepare and deliver controlled substances; maintain required records.
• Take inventory and replace outdated meds; maintain supplies.
• Prepare non-intravenous medications, including oral solutions for pediatric patients.
• Label parenteral and prescription products accurately.
• Perform dosage calculations for medications and solutions.
• Adhere to departmental standards for speed and accuracy.
• Prepare and label prepackaged meds and maintain related records.
• Maintain inventory in pharmacy service areas.
• Answer calls and route to the proper person.
• Keep pharmacy storage areas clean and orderly.
• Assist in training pharmacy technicians.
• Follow state and federal regulations restricting certain duties to Pharmacists.
