Job summary

Mercy Hospital Jefferson is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This part-time role (24 hours) supports patient safety and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Tech I–III qualifications include education (HS diploma or equivalent) and Missouri Pharmacy Technician registration; Tech II requires 1 year (2 years preferred), Tech III requires 3 years.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.
• Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit registration by first day of work.
• Experience: Tech I ≤1 year preferred; Tech II 1 year required (2 years preferred); Tech III 3 years required.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications.
• Follow applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for care and safety.
• Support supervising pharmacist responsible for patient care and safety.
• Complete pharmacy department orientation.

The Pharmacy Tech II follows applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and are accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy.
