Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support registered pharmacists in outpatient and inpatient settings. You will process medication orders, assist with inventory, and respond to patient prescriptions with courteous service.

You will validate insurances (where applicable), prepare IV admixtures, stock medications, and ensure documentation and policies are followed. The role requires a high school diploma and pharmacy technician certification or training, with PA Board

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CPhT or ExCPT certification is required.
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year equivalent experience.
• Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician with PA State Board before start date.

Responsibilities

• Processes medication orders including computer entry, preparation and assembly for pharmacist check.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies per policy; inspects assigned areas and uses pharmacy computer systems.
• Provides customer service by taking prescriptions, documenting information, and releasing medications per policy.
• For Outpatient Techs: validates Medicaid/Medicare/commercial insurance coverage and ensures adjudication; handles cash and deposits.
• For Inpatient Techs: compounds, stocks, repackages, and batches medications; prepares IV admixtures including antibiotics and chemo.
• Central Fill Pharmacy: safe operation of equipment including forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma / GED

Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT (NHA)

Pharmacy technician training program or 1 year experience
