Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support registered pharmacists through dispensing, compounding and inventory control in a busy healthcare setting. You will process orders, ensure accurate documentation and maintain supplies in accordance with policy.

Outpatient duties include insurance verification and cash handling; inpatient duties cover compounding, IV admixtures and batch preparation. Join a team focused on safe, efficient medication delivery.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT (NHA) required.
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year equivalent experience required.
• Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician through PA State Board of Pharmacy by start date required (effective June 28, 2026).

Responsibilities

• Processes medication orders including computer entry, medication preparation and assembly prior to pharmacist final check.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies per policies; inspects areas and uses pharmacy computer systems.
• Provides customer service by taking prescriptions, obtaining required information, and releasing medications as per policy.
• For Outpatient Techs: validates Medicaid/Medicare or commercial insurance coverage; handles cash, deposits and accounting reports.
• For Inpatient Techs: compounds, stocks, repackages and batches; prepares IV admixtures including antibiotics, solutions, parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy.
