Job summary

Johns Hopkins Health System in Maryland is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Technician (CPT) under the supervision of the Pharmacy Business Manager and Clinical Programs Manager. The CPT will interact with patients, the Prior Authorization team, and outpatient pharmacy staff to relay information and provide clinical support.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • Registration with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy is required upon hire.
  • CPhT certification (NHA or PTCB) is required.
  • Five (5) years retail pharmacy technician experience required.
  • Specialized PTBC certificate required.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with patients requiring clinical intervention and coordinate with clinical teams.
  • Communicate with patients, caregivers, prescribers and staff to relay and obtain pertinent information.
  • May provide on‑call services and participate in process improvement.
  • Support day‑to‑day outpatient pharmacy operations.

Job description

Under direct supervision of the Pharmacy Business Manager and Clinical Programs Manager, the Clinical Pharmacy Technician (CPT) primarily interacts with patients requiring clinical intervention. The CPT works closely with the Prior Authorization team, Patient Assistance Program Specialists, Clinical Coordinators, and all Outpatient Pharmacy staff, prescribers, and medical office staff in order to serve the patients. The CPT will communicate with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and colleagues to relay and obtain pertinent information. The CPT may provide on‑call services for patients as required, participates in process improvement, and develops relationships with patients. The CPT also participates in other duties related to the day‑to‑day operations of the outpatient pharmacies.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Registration with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy is required upon hire
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). NHA or PTCB
  • Five (5) years retail pharmacy technician experience required
  • Specialized, assessment‑based Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate required.
Salary Range:

Minimum $19.25/hour - Maximum $31.80/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
