Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications.
  • Support compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs per procedures.
  • Help ensure medications are prepared accurately and safely.
  • Participate in medication distribution activities across the organization.
  • Maintain medication inventory, stocking and replenishment.
  • Support quality assurance and compliance to ensure patient safety.
  • Follow federal and New York State pharmacy regulations and policies.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
  • Identify and address inventory or workflow issues to support operations.
  • Provide guidance for Pharmacy Assistant-related duties.

Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll play an important role in ensuring patients receive the medications they need safely, accurately, and on time. Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you'll support medication preparation, compounding, distribution, inventory management, and quality assurance activities that are essential to patient care.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in contributing to the safe and effective delivery of medications. Every day, your work will help support the care teams and patients who rely on the pharmacy's expertise.

The starting annual salary is $47,110 and this can include a full comprehensive benefits package.

What You'll Do
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications
  • Support the compounding of both hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals in accordance with established procedures
  • Help ensure medications are prepared accurately and safely
  • Participate in medication distribution activities throughout the organization
  • Maintain medication inventory, including stocking, monitoring, and replenishing supplies
  • Support quality assurance and compliance processes to help maintain high standards of patient safety
  • Follow all applicable federal and New York State pharmacy regulations and organizational policies
  • Assist with maintaining accurate pharmacy records and documentation
  • Help identify and address inventory or workflow issues to support efficient pharmacy operations
  • Provide guidance and oversight for Pharmacy Assistant-related duties and responsibilities

Certification Requirement
  • National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT from National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with NYS Office of the Professions, State Education Department.
Education and Experience

High school diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of six (6) months of full-time pharmacy assistant or pharmacy technician experience.

NOTE
  • Incumbents must maintain the required New York State registration and national certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) as a condition of continued employment.
  • Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
