Job summary

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to support medication preparation, compounding, distribution, and inventory management under pharmacist supervision in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

This role requires national certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or ExCPT, NYS registration, a high school diploma, and approximately six months of related experience. You will ensure accurate, safe medication handling and maintain records.

Qualifications

  • National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with NYS Office of the Professions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and ~6 months of related pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications.
  • Support compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals per procedures.
  • Ensure medications are prepared accurately and safely.
  • Participate in medication distribution activities across the organization.
  • Maintain medication inventory, including stocking and replenishing supplies.
  • Support quality assurance and compliance to uphold patient safety.
  • Follow applicable federal and NYS pharmacy regulations and policies.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
  • Identify and address inventory or workflow issues to support operations.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for Pharmacy Assistant duties.

Job description

Pharmacy Technician II – Regular, Full time, 40 hours per week. Salary: $45,081 annual, with comprehensive benefits.

Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support medication preparation, compounding, distribution, inventory management, and quality assurance under pharmacist supervision. Your work ensures patients receive the medications they need safely, accurately, and on time in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

What You'll Do
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications.
  • Support the compounding of both hazardous and non‑hazardous pharmaceuticals in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure medications are prepared accurately and safely.
  • Participate in medication distribution activities throughout the organization.
  • Maintain medication inventory, including stocking, monitoring, and replenishing supplies.
  • Support quality assurance and compliance processes to help maintain high standards of patient safety.
  • Follow all applicable federal and New York State pharmacy regulations and organizational policies.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
  • Identify and address inventory or workflow issues to support efficient pharmacy operations.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for Pharmacy Assistant‑related duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the NYS Office of the Professions, State Education Department.
  • High school diploma or equivalency and the equivalent of six (6) months of full‑time pharmacy assistant or pharmacy technician experience.
  • Incumbents must maintain required NewYork State registration and national certification as a Pharmacy Technician as a condition of continued employment.
  • Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
