Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Milton is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to join the central pharmacy operations. You will assist in automated dispensing, IV admixtures, and ensure compliance with USP guidelines while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires sterile compounding experience and 2–5 years in a hospital setting. The position offers a day shift, full-time hours, and benefits aligned with a major health system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Licensed Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) as required by state.
• Sterile compounding experience preferred.
• 2–5 years pharmacy technician experience.
• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Restocks floor stock and automated dispensing machines.
• Enter charges/credits to ensure accurate patient bills.
• Monitor medication order reports and assign meds to devices.
• Deliver medications in compliance with regulations.
• Repackage medications per USP standards; prepare IV meds per USP 797/800.
• Maintain records, QA, and clean sterile areas; check expirations.
• Train new staff in central pharmacy ops and sterile compounding areas.

Maintains records pertaining to IV admixtures, maintains cleanliness in sterile areas, and completes QA.· Checks for expired medications within the pharmacy & automated dispensing cabinets. Ensures that all expired/damaged medications are disposed of in accordance with RCRA, OSHA & NIOSH regulations.**Level Specific Responsibilities:**· Participates in the inspection of medication storage areas to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.· Participates in drug procurement and receiving.· Participates in automated dispensing systems inventory management.· Participates in diversion prevention monitoring.· Responsible for training new staff in Central Pharmacy Operations. Tasks include but are not limited to: (1) Automated Dispensing Cabinet responsibilities, (2) Medication monitoring reports, (3) Restocking, and (4) Expiration Date Checking· Responsible for training new staff in extemporaneous non-sterile compounding and repackaging of medications in accordance to all USP guidelines· Responsible for training new staff in all Sterile Products areas.
