The Pharmacy Technician II performs specialized functions necessary to assist pharmacists in providing safe, efficient, friendly, and cost-effective pharmacotherapy services. These functions include, but are not limited to: sterile compounding, controlled substance oversight, pediatrics, medication history, patient assistance, inventory control, medstation maintenance, unit inspection, packaging, and bedside discharge service. The technician utilizes appropriate equipment, supplies, and computer systems for procurement, preparation, verification, and delivery of medication. They perform quality control procedures and contribute to maintaining the pharmacy, equipment, and supplies. Additionally, they are responsible for at least one pharmacy-related project outside of normal duties, such as workflow redesign, performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory compliance, administrative tasks, staff development, or technology. The technician trains new employees and/or students in procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
