Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications. This full-time role involves labeling, sorting, and assisting with sterile and non-sterile compounding, with emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include patient data entry, insurance verification, and assisting in inventory control. A high school diploma or GED is required, with state license registration and CPhT/ExCPT certification

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy.
Pharmacy Technician Certification within 18 months from start date.
No work experience required; certified tech preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist licensed pharmacist with technical duties in preparation and distribution of medications.
Accurately select, prepare, and label medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
Assist with medication distribution tasks and inventory control.
Screen calls and route using proper telephone etiquette.
Maintain daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
Document medication admission histories and insurance verification workflow.
Perform nonsterile compounding following USP standards where applicable.
Perform sterile IV admixture following aseptic technique where applicable.
Ensure storage areas comply with policies and participate in training when required.
Support quality improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.
