Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician I to support the pharmacy staff with medication preparation and dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist. The role includes sterile and non-sterile compounding, Pyxis support, and timely delivery of medications to patient care units.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent and basic arithmetic skills; preferred candidates have customer service experience and/or formal pharmacy technician training.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including pulling medications for dispensing and inventory control.
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner.
• Assists with Pyxis questions and inventory management.
• Sterile compounding of intravenous medications and non-sterile compounding of oral medications.
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff and maintains organized workflow.

Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician I – Inpatient will support the pharmacy staff in medication preparation and dispensing under the direction of a pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including but not limited to the following:
  • Utilizes technology to pull medications for accurate dispensing and inventory control
  • Communicates inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent
  • Accurately completes controlled substance documentation
  • Repackages medications compliant with local policy
  • Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions
  • Sterile compounding of intravenous medications
  • Non-sterile compounding of oral medications
• Maintains an organized and effective work environment
• Avoids errors through high attention to detail to prevent undesirable clinical outcomes
• Uses an array of business systems on a stationary computer workstation
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner
• Maintain efficient workflow and timely dispensing of patient medications
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions
