Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I – Inpatient to support the pharmacy staff with medication preparation and dispensing under a pharmacist's supervision.

Responsibilities include pulling medications, repackaging, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and delivering meds to patient care units while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic arithmetic skills including multiplication, ratios, and percentages.
• Pharmacy technician training from an educational institution or hospital preferred.
• Some customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily pharmacy operations and medication preparation under pharmacist direction.
• Pulls medications for dispensing and maintains inventory accuracy.
• Communicates inventory concerns to purchasing and documents narcotics accurately.
• Repackages medications per local policy and assists clinical staff with Pyxis questions.
• Performs sterile and non-sterile compounding as required and delivers meds to units.
• Maintains organized workflow and supports timely dispensing of patient medications.

Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I – Inpatient will support the pharmacy staff in medication preparation and dispensing under the direction of a pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including but not limited to the following:
• Utilizes technology to pull medications for accurate dispensing and inventory control
• Communicates inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent
• Accurately completes controlled substance documentation
• Repackages medications compliant with local policy
• Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions
• Sterile compounding of intravenous medications
• Non-sterile compounding of oral medications
• Maintains an organized and effective work environment
• Avoids errors through high attention to detail to prevent undesirable clinical outcomes
• Uses an array of business systems on a stationary computer workstation
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner
• Maintain efficient workflow and timely dispensing of patient medications
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have basic arithmetic skills including but not limited to multiplication, ratios, and percentages.

Preferred

• Some customer service experience
• Training as a pharmacy technician from an educational institution or in a hospital environment preferred.
