Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I – Inpatient to support medication preparation and dispensing under pharmacist supervision. This role involves sterile and non-sterile compounding, inventory coordination, and timely delivery to patient care units.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or equivalent and basic arithmetic skills; pharmacy technician training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have basic arithmetic skills including multiplication, ratios and percentages.
• Some customer service experience preferred.
• Training as a pharmacy technician from an educational institution or in a hospital environment preferred.

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including dispensing and inventory control.
• Communicates inventory concerns to the purchasing agent.
• Accurately completes controlled substance documentation.
• Repackages medications in compliance with local policy.
• Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions.
• Sterile compounding of intravenous medications.
• Non-sterile compounding of oral medications.
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner.
• Maintains organized, efficient work environment and reduces errors.
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including but not limited to the following:
  • Utilizes technology to pull medications for accurate dispensing and inventory control
  • Communicates inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent
  • Accurately completes controlled substance documentation
  • Repackages medications compliant with local policy
  • Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions
  • Sterile compounding of intravenous medications
  • Non-sterile compounding of oral medications

• Maintains an organized and effective work environment
• Avoids errors through high attention to detail to prevent undesirable clinical outcomes
• Uses an array of business systems on a stationary computer workstation
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner
• Maintain efficient workflow and timely dispensing of patient medications
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions
