Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician I to support the pharmacy team in medication preparation and dispensing under the pharmacist’s supervision. This position is onsite with a 36-hour work week and a night schedule.

Responsibilities include sterile and non-sterile compounding, timely medication delivery to units, and maintaining accurate inventory and documentation. Prior customer service experience and pharmacy technician training are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have basic arithmetic skills including multiplication, ratios, and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner and assists with Pyxis questions.
• Performs sterile compounding of intravenous medications and non-sterile compounding of oral medications.
• Maintains organized work environment and ensures accurate dispensing and inventory control.
• Completes controlled substance documentation as required and follows local policy.
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns.

Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I - Inpatient will support the pharmacy staff in medication preparation and dispensing under the direction of a pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including but not limited to the following:
  • Utilizes technology to pull medications for accurate dispensing and inventory control
  • Communicates inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent
  • Accurately completes controlled substance documentation
  • Repackages medications compliant with local policy
  • Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions
  • Sterile compounding of intravenous medications
  • Non-sterile compounding of oral medications
• Maintains an organized and effective work environment
• Avoids errors through high attention to detail to prevent undesirable clinical outcomes
• Uses an array of business systems on a stationary computer workstation
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner
• Maintain efficient workflow and timely dispensing of patient medications
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions
