Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I - Inpatient to support the pharmacy staff in medication preparation and dispensing under a pharmacist's direction. This onsite role involves night shifts with 36 hours per week and routine intraday responsibilities.

Responsibilities include dispensing medications, managing inventory, assisting with Pyxis-related inquiries, and performing sterile and non-sterile compounding per policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have basic arithmetic skills including but not limited to multiplication, ratios, and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Communicates inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent.
• Accurately completes controlled substance documentation.
• Repackages medications compliant with local policy.
• Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions.
• Sterile compounding of intravenous medications.
• Non-sterile compounding of oral medications.
• Maintains an organized and effective work environment.
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner.
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions.

Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician I - Inpatient will support the pharmacy staff in medication preparation and dispensing under the direction of a pharmacist.

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including but not limited to the following:
• Utilizes technology to pull medications for accurate dispensing and inventory control
• Communicates inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent
• Accurately completes controlled substance documentation
• Repackages medications compliant with local policy
• Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions
• Sterile compounding of intravenous medications
• Non-sterile compounding of oral medications

• Maintains an organized and effective work environment
• Avoids errors through high attention to detail to prevent undesirable clinical outcomes
• Uses an array of business systems on a stationary computer workstation
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner
• Maintain efficient workflow and timely dispensing of patient medications
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions
